Earning Your GED
The GED is for adults who did not finish high school. The GED, or General Educational Development, is group of five subject tests: writing, social studies, sciences, reading and mathematics. Adults who pass these tests will earn a GED credential that certifies their achievement of high school-level academic knowledge and skills.
If you did not complete high school, earning your GED should be at the top of your list of things to do. Earning a GED can be your ticket to getting into college, qualifying for job training programs, or finding a better paying job. You can find information on the NYS GED Testing Office Web site about preparing for and taking the GED tests, testing center locations, and other helpful resources.
