Mayor’s Office of Adult
Education and Kingsborough Community College Team Up to Offer a Credit Bearing
Alumni Leadership Development Course
The Transition to College Internship (T2C) is an innovative joint venture between the Mayor’s Office of Adult Education and CUNY. The T2C Internship strengthens outcomes for adult literacy students as they transition to college and improves persistence and graduation rates of GED alumni enrolled in college.
The Leadership and Community Development course is for alumni from GED and ESOL programs who are currently enrolled in college. Adult students will receive training for peer leadership, mentor and community development roles. Students will apply these skills in field-based settings to strengthen outcomes for adult learners in college and in campus-based literacy programs. Students will build individual and team leadership abilities while doing real-world projects. Each student team will design projects to help strengthen the adult education system in NYC and improve outcomes for adult learners in CUNY and beyond. Student interns will also help build partnerships with selected CUNY literacy programs in order to support current adult literacy learners and matriculated alumni.
