Support for Families

ACS and its network of social service agencies provide a variety of neighborhood-based child welfare services to help ensure that children grow up in safe, nurturing and permanent homes.

Preventive Services - Such as counseling, parenting skills training, and substance abuse treatment - are designed to ensure that children remain safe in the home and to prevent children from entering foster care.

ACS Borough Offices - are located in each of the five main boroughs of New York City.

Assistance for Adoptive Families -Information about services available to adoptive families and children, including adoption subsidy and medical assistance.

Adoption Subsidy News - The New York State Office of Children and Family Services has approved an increase for Adoption Subsidy rates, effective July 1, 2011. This increase is specified in New York State Administrative Directive 11-OCFS-ADM-13. New York State promulgated this change in late November 2011.

The Family Assessment Program (FAP)  - FAP helps keep young adults from unnecessarily entering the foster care system.

Juvenile Justice Initiative (JJI) - provides intensive, home-based services to youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The services are designed to prevent unnecessary stays in institutional placement, and to help youth who have been placed transition more smoothly back to their home communities.

Direct Deposit - Learn how to enroll in ACS’ direct deposit program for payments to Adoptive Parent(s), Direct Foster Care Clients, Landlords and Adoption Attorneys. Payments can be deposited directly into individual banking accounts. Forms are available in English and Spanish.
