Overview
Teenage Services Act (TASA)
Family Home Care
TASA programs work with pregnant or parenting teens who are receiving Medicaid or whose child only has Medicaid. TASA's case managers help mothers and fathers under age 22 to manage their new responsibilities, take control of their lives, and learn how to provide better futures for themselves and their children.
TASA case managers help young parents and their children get the services they need to be healthy and continue their education. TASA case managers:
- get to know the young parent through a home visit and
assessment
- work with the young parent to create a mutually
agreeable service plan
- help the young parent obtain the services she or he
needs and wants
- visit regularly with the young parent
- follow-up with the young parent and with his or her referral agencies to ensure that the services are being given appropriately.
What services can TASA help teens obtain?
- Public benefits, such as food stamps and WIC
- Health services (for mother, father, and child, before
and after birth)
- Abstinence and family planning services
- Parenting skills training
- Education
- Job skills training
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, the teen must be pregnant or parenting, in receipt of Medicaid
(or her/his children only has have Medicaid), and must enroll before their
21st birthday.
