Circle of Support
Mission

Circle of Support: Help is close to home

To promote a positive environment for foster/resource, adoptive, and kinship parents by increasing the level of community support through networking, building partnerships, and information sharing.

History

Circle of Support was started in New York City in the fall of 2001. The first five groups were launched in communities in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island. There are currently 17 support groups operating within the five boroughs of New York City.

Most groups will meet monthly throughout the year at a convenient location in your local neighborhood. A meal and childcare will be provided, at no charge. Also plan to have some fun with special activities, games for the children, door prizes and entertainment at select meetings.

The Circle of Support group is organized and run by foster/resource, kinship and adoptive parents living in your community. Participation is open to foster/resource, kinship and adoptive parents from all agencies and is supported by the NYC Administration for Children’s Services.
