ACS Commissioner William C. Bell and Dylan’s Candy Bar Host an Easter Egg Hunt For Children in ACS’s Care
New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) Commissioner William C. Bell and Joe Caparella, Chief Operating Officer of Dylan’s Candy Bar, today welcomed approximately 60 children engaged in ACS programs to an Easter egg hunt and party at Dylan’s Candy Bar at 60th Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan. Held inside Dylan’s Candy Bar, which is filled with over 5,000 candies from around the world, the Easter egg hunt benefited children in New York City’s foster care, child care, Head Start and preventive service programs.
“ACS is thrilled to team up with Dylan’s Candy Bar to provide children in our care with a fun Easter weekend celebration,” said Commissioner Bell. “ACS is grateful to organizations such as Dylan’s who help us remind our children that they are special by giving them opportunities they may not otherwise have.”
ACS currently cares for approximately 26,000 children in foster care, offers preventive services to an estimated 30,000 children and provides subsidized childcare to 60,000 children and Head Start classes to more than 17,000 children.
"We think this event is the perfect opportunity to provide an Easter celebration and fun environment for the children involved with ACS. We look forward to many more years of working with ACS and think this could be the beginning of a great New York tradition."
Each child in attendance collected a variety of candy from Dylan’s during the Easter egg hunt. Some eggs were filled with prize coupons redeemable for treats from Dylan’s Candy Bar. Every child received a goodie bag filled with other treats from Dylan’s. In addition, a magician kept early finishers entertained and Dylan’s staff gave children temporary tattoos.
Event planning and consultation company, Launch, Inc., coordinates events with Dylan's Candy Bar and collaborated with ACS to provide this memorable celebration for children engaged in ACS programs.
ACS thanks the following organizations for their contributions to this special event: Dylan’s Candy Bar; Launch, Inc.; Double Bubble; Jelly Belly; Hershey’s; and Pick-A-Bagel.
