Getting Ready for High School

NYC Administration for Children’s Services in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and the NYC Department of Education (DOE) hosted the first-ever HIGH SCHOOL GOAL SATURDAY on Saturday, November 13 at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.
At the event, 7th and 8th grade students in foster care and their foster parents and/or caregivers received additional support for the high school planning and application process. They received one-on-one attention and help with choosing the right high school for them and filling out the DOE high school application. Each 8th grader left the event with a completed high school application and a HSGS To-Do List of follow-up tasks for the caregivers and youth. Those in 7th grade participated in workshops focused on the high school application process, NYC Specialized High Schools, and the Public School Athletic League.
