Buddhist Monks Hold Mindfulness Trainings at DYFJ Centers
Monks and nuns associated with Thich Hnat Hanh, world famous Buddhist monk and major advocate for peace on visited Crossroads Juvenile Center in Brooklyn in November to hold mindfulness trainings for residents of the facility. The sessions taught residents how to meditate and relax in any situation. The monks are on a US tour which includes visits to universities including Columbia, MIT and Princeton. Their visit to Crossroads was facilitated by the Lineage Project which for the last four years has provided alternative tools for physical, emotional, mental wellness to youth in detention, helping them to transform their lives through yoga.
