ACS Mentoring Program

Mentors provide friendship, support, and act as real-life role models to help young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 who are living in Children’s Services Direct Care programs. Mentors assist teenagers with learning about and considering future options, making important decisions and living successfully in their communities. The mentor's time commitment is two to three hours per week for at least one year. 

Steps to becoming a mentor include:

  1. completing the Prospective Mentor Application (PDF format, 6 pages, 60K)
  2. scheduling an interview with Mentoring Program staff
  3. providing references
  4. completing a New York State Central Register Clearance check
