The City provides free signs to be placed near elevators, escalators and stairs about burning calories and saving electricity by taking the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. Posting such signs has been shown to increase stair use by approximately 50 percent. Walking up the stairs just 2 minutes a day helps prevent yearly weight gain.
