World Trade Center Health Assistance

The Federal government and the City provide services to support people suffering from the World Trade Center (WTC) disaster on September 11th.

The WTC Health Program provides health monitoring and treatment for responders and survivors. These services, along with benefits counseling, are provided with no out-of-pocket cost to eligible individuals. The Responder Program includes workers and people who were exposed to World Trade Center dust or fumes, including local residents and workers and volunteers who participated in rescue, recovery, restoration of essential services, debris clean up, demolition, security or site monitoring and other vital support services in the wake of the terriorist atacks on the World Trade Center.  The Survivor Program includes local residents and workers, CIty employees, and volunteers, people exposed to the initial dust cloud, and people involved in debris removal and clean-up.

The WTC Health Registry has enrolled over 71,000 people who were exposed to the disaster and its aftermath to track their health over time. Enrollment in the Registry closed in 2004. People who enrolled do not have any special rights or benefits.

Enrolled participants of the WTC Health Registry may report changes in their contact information (mailing addresses, email addresses, or telephone numbers).

The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund compensates eligible individuals who suffered economic losses due to physical harm or death caused by 9/11.
