Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) Waterbody Advisory Information

A Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) Waterbody Advisory is issued when the amount of recent rain or snow has triggered a mix of untreated sewage and fresh water to spill into one of the waterways around New York Harbor. People who use these waterways for recreational activities such as fishing or boating should be aware that the water may contain bacteria that can cause illness. A CSO Waterbody Advisory does not affect drinking water or swimming pools.
