Smartscreen Public Phone

Beginning in the summer of 2012 the City will authorize the installation of smartscreen payphones. As part of a pilot program, NYC will unveil 32-inch "smartscreens" with internet connections inside 250 old phone booths throughout the city's five boroughs. The free touchscreen technology will provide local City information, news and program related content to users. Each smart screen will have a 311 icon that links directly to 311 Online for users to get information or file complaints. The service will be free for all users.
