Tree Planting and the MillionTreesNYC Program Information

MillionTreesNYC is a project of PlaNYC, through which the City and the New York Restoration Project will plant and care for one million new trees in all five boroughs over the next ten years.

The City accepts requests for street tree planting and complaints about the condition of new trees. The City also provides information about volunteering or making a donation to support tree planting on public property.

A zoning amendement, passed by the City, now requires trees to be planted along the curb following the construction of new buildings and certain types of alterations citywide.

The City does not provide trees or planting services on private property, but it does provide information about planting and caring for trees. You may also report a private tree planting to be counted as part of the MillionTreesNYC Program.
