The City preserves landmarks and historic sites to safeguard its architectural, historical, and cultural heritage.
Once a site is designated a landmark, the City must pre-approve interior or exterior construction or painting, including any work on fences and sidewalks. The City offers grant money and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations and low- or moderate-income households that seek to restore landmark buildings.
