Free WiFi at Public Pay Telephones

On July 11, 2012, a pilot program to provide free public WiFi at 15 public pay telephone installations was announced. The program will be provided at no cost to taxpayers and will expand to all five boroughs.

Access is currently available at these ten locations:

  • 545 Albee Square, Brooklyn
  • 2 Smith Street, Brooklyn
  • 30-94 Steinway Street, Queens
  • 402 West Broadway, Manhattan 
  • 458 Seventh Avenue, Manhattan
  • 28 West 48th Street, Manhattan
  • 410 Madison Avenue, Manhattan
  • 1609 Broadway, Manhattan
  • 1790 Broadway, Manhattan
  • 230 West 95th Street, Manhattan

 An additional eight locations, in the Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan, will be launched later in 2012.
