The City provides information about obtaining yellow taxi medallions. A medallion is a piece of tin that is affixed on the hood of a yellow taxicab. The piece of tin identifies the vehicle as a licensed New York City taxicab and may be used to pick up passengers from the street by a licensed New York City taxicab driver. TLC has been approved to sell 2,000 new medallions. There is not a date yet for the medallion sale.
