Through the Special Investigations Unit, the City investigates
complaints about people using falsified information to
get Department of Buildings (DOB) documents. It is a
misdemeanor crime to falsify information on any certificate, form, signed statement, application, report,
or certification of correction for a violation. This crime is
punishable by fine, imprisonment, or both fine and
imprisonment.
