Lead Paint Information or Complaint

The City responds to complaints about lead paint, including:

  • Possible lead paint dangers in New York City Housing Authority apartments
  • One and two family homes with peeling lead paint
  • Lead dust hazards from renovation or repair work
  • Peeling or chipped paint inside apartments in buildings with three or more units where children under six years old are present.

New York City law requires that the repair of lead paint hazards be done by trained workers using safe work practices. Dry sanding and dry scraping of lead paint is not allowed.

The City also provides assistance in completing lead-based paint disclosure packages.
