Food Safety Complaint and Information

The City accepts complaints about food safety practices, unsanitary conditions, pets, and insect infestations in food service establishments. Food establishments include:

  • Supermarkets
  • Farmers markets
  • Fish markets
  • Beverage stores
  • Bodegas
  • Warehouses
  • Delis
  • Bakeries
  • Cafeterias
  • Food carts (including Green Carts), stands, or trucks
  • Restaurants

The City provides information about operating a clean, safe, healthy and legal business whether you work in a restaurant, soup kitchen or other food service area.

The City also issues violations when appropriate.


Report unsanitary conditions in a deli, bakery, cafeteria, or restaurant.


Report an unsanitary or unlicensed mobile food vendor.


Call 311 to report unsanitary conditions at a supermarket, bodega, grocery store, fish market, farmers market, food warehouse, or food processing site.
