Recycle empty metal or plastic latex paint cans.

If the paint is oil-based, you can put small amounts in a black garbage bag mixed with kitty litter, newspaper, or another absorbent material that will soak up the paint.

To dispose of a large amount of oil-based paint, contact a private hauler or an environmental services company.
